Located in Wakayama prefecture, the Nachi waterfall, with a drop of more than 130 meters, is a natural monument renowned all over Japan and has been depicted in a famous late-XIIIth century Shinto painting: having sketched himself the waterfall and being also inspired by the painting, in 1962 Keisuke Serizawa created this wonderful abstract design using different nuances of indigo dye against a white background.
Applied to the classic shape of a tenugui, the effect is even more striking.
