The typical Japanese daruma, known in the West in its classic lucky charm shape with just one painted eye (as the other shall be painted only once the relevant desire will be fulfilled) takes many unexpected forms and this is only one of the different traceable around Japan: this Sankaku (literally "triangle") daruma, is handmade in Echigo province, in the village of Suibara, by the eight generation of Sankaku daruma makers and it's a splendid example of contemporary Japanese craftsmanship. The big red daruma represents the mother, while the small blue one represents the father. Clay and colours mixed with laquer. 17 cm x 8 cm x 8 cm
