This carved flower plate represents another beautiful outcome of the collaboration between renowned designer Masanori Oji and Arita’s Touetsugama historic kiln. As the whole collection created by this amazing teamwork, it blends an everyday-use, essential esthetic with traditional white porcelain techniques, using Amakusa Touseki, a porcelain stone mined from the mountains of the Amakusa region. Thanks to Touetsugama’s unique craftsmanship, it retains the natural off-white colour of the clay, enhanced by the clarity of the straw ash glaze and, in this case, by the gentle rusty accent of the rim - made through a technique called Fuchi-Sabi.
Made in white porcelain, using Amakusa Touseki, a porcelain stone mined from the mountains of the Amakusa region, ground to a fine clay slurry and stirred for 20 hours to create an exceptionally smooth and evenly textured slip.
Finely decorative but sturdy, this white plate, alone or in a set of two, is perfect for everyday use, as a serving dish, a key dish, a sweeties dish or anything in between.
