This white comport is another wonderful outcome of the collaboration between Masanori Oji and Arita’s Touetsugama historic kiln. It is made using Amakusa Touseki, a porcelain stone mined from the mountains of the Amakusa region. Thanks to Touetsugama’s unique craftsmanship, it retains the natural off-white colour of the clay, enhanced by the clarity of the straw ash glaze. The rim has a delicate rusty motif, called fuchi-sabi.
Made in white porcelain, using Amakusa Touseki, a porcelain stone mined from the mountains of the Amakusa region, ground to a fine clay slurry and stirred for 20 hours to create an exceptionally smooth and evenly textured slip.
Almost iconic in its presence, this porcelain comport makes for an elegant yet sophisticated presentation of fruit or candies.
