A special, limited edition tenugui, created exclusively for Nanban by the Japanese artist Kensuke Koike, who with an alchemic touch gives new life to images of the past.
As in his works on paper, the cropped and superimposed image of a 1950s star face finds in the folds of the tenugui, which are formed in everyday use, an endless series of fascinating and amusing combinations.
Hand-printed according to traditional techniques, the tenugui is the most classic Japanese cotton hand towel: it is an extraordinary jack of all trades and is created on an incredible loom, where each pattern is printed by hand on a single tissue 30 meters long, then precisely cut in several pieces. The resulting cut isn't sewn on purpose, as after losing some threads, the process will stop and the tenugui will keep its shape naturally.
An amazing and beautiful jack of all trades, that always comes in handy, as well as an amazing piece of art.
