A special, limited edition tenugui, created exclusively for Nanban by the acclaimed Italian graphic design studio La Tigre.
Inspired by Hakuja (はくじゃ), the white snake dear to the Japanese for its auspiciousness, the drawing that decorates the tenugui moves sinuously, in a continuous play of light and shadow, on a light blue background that evokes dreamy atmospheres, with infinite references to the rich mythologies of the Rising Sun.
Hand-printed according to traditional techniques, the tenugui is the most classic Japanese cotton hand towel: it is an extraordinary jack of all trades and is created on an incredible loom, where each pattern is printed by hand on a single tissue 30 meters long, then precisely cut in several pieces. The resulting cut isn't sewn on purpose, as after losing some threads, the process will stop and the tenugui will keep its shape naturally.
An amazing and beautiful jack of all trades, that always comes in handy, as well as an amazing piece of art.
