Hōjicha (焙じ茶) is a Japanese green tea, roasted in a porcelain pot over charcoal.
Its producer, the family behind Kaneroku Matsumoto-en, aimed to create a flavored tea without any added ingredient, only using smoking, a the result is this hojicha, cultivated in the region of Shizuoka using the «chagusaba» method (with a mulch of grass), then smoked with yakusugi cedar chips from the island of Yakushima, which give the green tea a powerful woody aroma, with delicate smoked notes of cedar wood and which can be enjoyed hot or cold and goes very well with flavors and aromas such as nuts or chocolate. 50g.
