Designed in 1969 by Japan's legendary porcelain designer, Masahiro Mori, the Fancy Cup encompasses a high-end design and an extraordinary functionality. The thinness and lightweight of the porcelain, together with its smoothness and gloss emphasises the beauty of this material and its unique form have made it a classic example of playful design.
Ideal for cold drinks because of its thin porcelain, it can also be used as a vase or a design object. The line boasts six different patterns, each with a different tactile feel in the hand, because Mori originally intended these cups to be enjoyed by everyone, including the visually-impaired.
Porcelain is a natural material that will patina and change over time, depending on its use, but firing at 1300ºC imparts it a hard surface with excellent resistance to chemicals, so it can be washed with regular detergents and it is dishwasher and microwave safe. Prized a Good Design Award in 2006.
