Crafted in Yamanaka Onsen, Ishikawa Prefecture, in a small valley renowned for its hot springs, lacquerware and woodwork, this bowl is the result of over one hundred years of relentless pursuit of perfection in woodworking, brought forward from generation to generation. Made of zelkova wood (ケヤキ, keyaki in Japanese), sustainably sourced from local forests and also used for the famous taiko drums, it combines a traditional and exceptionally contemporary design at the same time, it is light but robust, splendid and practical. It is available in two finishes, natural and lacquered (according to traditional local techniques), the latter slightly darker. To be hand-washed. Zelkova serrata wood, urushi laquerware (coating). A small and light masterpiece of Japanese design and manufacturing, to regally accommodate every portion of rice. 11 cm x 11 cm x 7 cm
