Made with certified sustainable vegetable oil by one of the oldest Japanese soap company, founded in 1892 and based in Tokyo ever since, originally specialized in soaps for schools and hospitals. Just after the turning of the century, it started its first line of branded soaps, with became immediately popular and included this fish shaped welcome soap: each of them is made using a carved wood mold, like the kashigata, traditionally used to make Japanese pastries, using RSPO vegetable oils (a certification made in collaboration with Green Peace against deforestation) and is hangable by a natural linen rope. The shape is based on the Tai fish (also known as red snapper), which in Japanese culture is associated with Ebisu, the god of merchants and with good fortune, not only because of its red color, but also because of a pun, as medeTai (めでたい) means happy and propitious. Traditionally gifted in Japan during celebrations, the soap is presented in a beautiful box, which makes them perfect for guest rooms or housewarming gifts. This red version has a wonderful pomegranate fragrance.
