This is one of the most iconic design by Sori Yanagi. Originally designed in 1953, a year after he opened his studio in Tokyo, and slightly redesigned in 1994, this masterpiece is today manufactured in Niigata, through the joint work of almost fifteen factories and most of its parts are still hand made. Under its normal appearance, every detail is carefully weighed, to create both a functional and beautiful object. The wide base ensures that the water can be heated quickly, while the handles are carefully shaped to make the kettle easy to lift and to hold firmly. This kettle perfectly embodies Yanagi's approach to design: as he said in 2002, “I try to create things that we human beings feel are useful in our daily lives,”. Ready to be used on gas or induction cookers.
