This mug is another fancy outcome of the collaboration between Masanori Oji and Arita’s Touetsugama historic kiln. It is made using Amakusa Touseki, a porcelain stone mined from the mountains of the Amakusa region. Thanks to Touetsugama’s unique craftsmanship, it retains the natural off-white colour of the clay, enhanced by the clarity of the straw ash glaze. The rim has a slight rusty accent, otherwise called Fuchi-Sabi. Imperceptibly rough, it takes on a pleasant patina over time.
Made in white porcelain, using Amakusa Touseki, a porcelain stone mined from the mountains of the Amakusa region, ground to a fine clay slurry and stirred for 20 hours to create an exceptionally smooth and evenly textured slip.
Essential and almost poetic, this is just the perfect mug for your well deserved tea-time.
