Furikake is simply the ingredient all Japanese jazz up their plain bowl of rice or their onigiri rice ball, just sprinkling it over rice and letting it enhance it with many delicious flavours, while, the the same time, adding useful nutrients, such as protein and calcium. Gohan no Tomo furikake is the noble father of all furikake and is characterized by an intense flavor of Iriko (いりこ), that is to say small dried sardines, to which white sesame seeds, soy, chopped seaweed and other ingredients are added. Made with carefully selected ingredients from the same company founded by the inventor of furikake, Suekichi Yoshimaru, one teaspoon of the mixture is enough to transform a bowl of white rice, enhancing it with intense color and flavors, rich in sea-salt umami. Beside rice dishes, it can also be used to season tofu and side dishes. 70g.
